Artha Karya Realizes Intellectual Property Protection that is Accessible, Inclusive, and Sustainable in Bali

Denpasar – The Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights reaffirmed its commitment to providing inclusive intellectual property (IP) services for disabled creators through the Artha Karya Program, which stands for Accessible and Integrated Services for Intellectual Property Works. The program has been implemented and formalized in a Memorandum of Understanding with all districts and municipalities across Bali as an effort to expand access to IP protection.

This commitment was realized through the event “Transformation of Artha Karya: Accessible and Integrated Services for Creative Works through the Mobile Intellectual Property Clinic”, held at Living World Denpasar on Friday (20/09). The event featured mobile services including consultations, trademark searches, as well as the registration and recording of intellectual property, all designed to be accessible for disabled artists.

The program also aims to raise awareness on the importance of IP registration for works of art, music, and performances by persons with disabilities, to foster a sustainable creative empowerment ecosystem, to provide legal understanding regarding copyright protection, and to open access to professional competency certification as a form of recognition for disabled creators.

Head of the Bali Regional Office, Eem Nurmanah, emphasized the importance of IP registration to prevent claims and plagiarism, while also ensuring economic benefits for creators. “Through Artha Karya, we are committed to delivering services that are accessible, inclusive, and provide equal opportunities for disabled artists,” she stated.

The event also featured Agus Mertayasa, a disabled creator who showcased his painting works and demonstrated his creative process. The atmosphere became even more vibrant with performances from the Forum Keluarga Spesial Indonesia (Forkesi), whose members showcased their talents in singing and dancing.

As a tangible form of support, the Bali Regional Office presented free Intellectual Property certificates to representatives of disabled creators and introduced an IP service guidebook in Braille for the visually impaired.

The program is supported by Forkesi, the Regional Research and Innovation Agency of Bali Province, as well as all districts and municipalities in Bali. Additional support also comes from the business community, including the Indonesian Indigenous Entrepreneurs Association (HIPPI) and Cahaya Ladaran Nusantara (CLN), who are working together to foster an inclusive and sustainable creative ecosystem in Bali.
